9 Months!

Time to start planning for his 1st birthday! I am in shock how fast 9 months has flown. I can’t believe I just bought his forward facing car booster today…and this weekend we are child-proofing as it won’t be long before he starts pulling up on furniture. Check out this video: have scooting power, will travel!

Also, as you will see in the video, I think he is starting to understand how to greet people with a “hi” and a wave. Not sure…but I am predicting that his first words will be hi or yeah!

GoAskMama.com?

I love NPR – especially the Boston channel, WBUR: I am listening to a story about empty nesting/parents saying goodbye to children as they go off to college, and a mom phoned in and told the host about her new website:

http://goaskmama.com/

It’s a site that college kids can go to and ask “mom” questions as they are living on their own for the first time, like how to do the laundry etc.

Wow! People are so clever. I know, we won’t need this for 18 years…I can’t even imagine how hard I am going to cry when Zachy leaves our nest!

39 weeks

Here is Zachary’s SECOND work of art…I have yet to scan in the first one that only used 1 color (yellow). He painted the sun – pretty ambitious in my opinion. I am not sure what this second image is…maybe be it’s Earth?

In other news, Zachy is just getting smarter and more clever by the moment: He found his family pictures ( a picture of Mommy, Daddy and Grandpa) on his day care cabinet in his classroom. He scooted across the room, up to the cabinet and started wiggling up and down when he saw them! I swear, I should do a little cartoon of him doing that – it is so cute! The day care took a picture of him doing it!

He also is trying to keep up with his older classmates, moving forward to the steps and ramp of the mini playground that is in the center of the room!

Baby Crack and Scootching – 38 weeks

Zachy had his first taste of baby puffs! Well technically he tried one (too early) in Portland, OR, but this weekend I felt comfortable enough to let him play with and taste a small handful (a Zachy handful). I finger fed 3 or 4 to him, and he picked a few up with his fingers – it’s amazing how ginger he is when he examines things – he has amazing precision and manual dexterity. I always thought I would have to stop wearing dangle earrings or necklaces with him, but he is so gentle, and genuinely interested in inspecting things with his fingers. So sweet.

He is also scooching forward! No longer is he just wobbling up and down (he is till doing this), but he is also pulling himself forward to get form place to place, as well as rolling. In fact he figured out how to pull himself to the edge of the changing table when he is on his tummy. I know that the strap no longer keeps him safe. He is becoming more and more independent – this weekend I hope to start more baby proofing.

When I placed him on the floor to play, Zachy actually left his room! It took him 20 minutes, but he did it!

We also now have 2 pieces of artwork form daycare. I decided to fill the great void that is above his changing table with two frames that I can interchange artwork with. I am going to keep a gallery of his work and watch how it evolves over time…not that I expect him to become an artist or anything.

…and now, 37 weeks, 5 Days!

Zachy is officially the same age outside the womb as he was in utero the day he was born. It’s weird to think he is twice his age since the day he was conceived. He is now starting to inch his way forward everywhere on the floor and even on the changing table! It’s getting dangerous!

I thought it was my imagination, but two days ago, after nursing, he sat up in my lap! I thought, oh, wait, I must have helped him, and kind of brushed the incident off like it was my imagination. Then today at daycare, he did it again. He was on the floor, on his back, he rolled over and pushed himself up to a seated position! I will have to see this for myself.

He is still teething, but no sign of pearly whites yet. Still chewing on his toes.

37 weeks

Zachy is barely scootching forward, but he is learning to play independently, and the mirror helps. He is also starting to teeth. He still has somewhat of a clogged tear duct, poor guy. But at least he is still having fun!

What a wiggle-worm!

It’s amazing: Zachy responds to his name and even responds to conversation. I wonder sometimes what he is really trying to say to us. But in time I know we will surely find out!

8 months

Zachy is 8 months and counting! It’s weird to think he is slowly but surely reaching his gestational age! To think this whole adventure began 18 months ago? I can’t believe it. He still isn’t crawling yet, but is able to get up on his knees and rock, scoot backwards, and even gets up on his toes in a “downward dog” position. He is also still suffering form a lot of post-nasal drip which has turned into his first ear infection. Hopefully he feels better soon.
